How Globe Raised ARPU by 20% with an OTT Playbook

With more than 60 million subscribers, Globe is the leading telecom operator in the Philippines. LotusFlare has been working with Globe as their technology and digital customer experience partner, to help the operator build an awesome digital experience for its customers. With the introduction of the new UI of the Switch app in the beginning of 2019, ARPU has increased by 20%, while digital transactions have grown by almost 65%.

The Switch app has been downloaded 13 million times since its launch: it has become the main channel for Globe to engage and advertise new offers to its customers.

What was Globe’s initial objective in launching the Switch app? 

– Providing prepaid customers with a ‘digital storefront’ that helps them discover new apps,
– Accelerating the transition from free to paid mobile data usage, ultimately raising ARPU and revenues for the operator. 

We learned that building a strong customer app that is well-liked by subscribers also has the potential to improve brand perception. It can shift the conversation with customers away from just minutes and megabytes to exciting new video, music and gaming content.
